Vianode Via ONE Synthetic Anode Graphite Plant (Herøya)

Vianode's Via ONE plant at Herøya Industrial Park, Porsgrunn, Norway — the company's first full-scale synthetic anode graphite plant, officially opened on 16 October 2024 with four full-size furnaces and a stated fully-ramped capacity of 2,000 tonnes per year of synthetic anode graphite, employing over 100 people. Vianode describes Via ONE as a customer verification plant and technology centre that is essential for customer qualification, and states a 90% lower CO2 footprint than conventional production. Included on the processing-or-later basis: the plant is named in the coverage manifest's named sources. Innovation Norway's NOK 400 million loan commitment (13 April 2025) part-finances Via ONE, the Kristiansand Technology Centre and the Oslo headquarters, but Innovation Norway states it is provided on market terms under the Green Industrial Financing programme and is not classified as state aid under EFTA Surveillance Authority regulations — it is therefore recorded here as context, not as qualifying government involvement. Ownership statements differ between the sources loaded: the October 2024 release names Hydro and Altor as owners, the April 2025 release names Altor alone.

Operating

Four advanced full-size furnaces producing synthetic anode graphite in high-temperature production processes; Vianode states a 90% lower CO2 footprint than conventional production methods and describes Via ONE as a customer verification plant and technology centre essential for customer qualification. No source loaded this pass names the specific carbon precursor charged to the furnaces, so the input flow is recorded as a graphitizable carbon precursor by inference from Vianode's description of synthetic graphite manufacture.
