UP Catalyst CO2Graphite Plant

UP Catalyst OÜ produces synthetic battery-grade graphite and carbon nanotubes from industrial CO2 emissions via Molten Salt Carbon Capture and Electrochemical Transformation (MSCC-ET). Its CO2Graphite project is entry (11) on the EU CRMA first Strategic Projects list (processing, graphite battery grade). The company opened its own production facility for carbon materials in Estonia in 2024 and is based at Jaama tee 6, Maardu, Harju County — the record's locality follows that sourced address rather than the 'Tallinn' shorthand in the facility slug. Status is early/pilot: EIB venture debt of EUR 18 million (announced 23 July 2025) funds scale-up toward 1,350 t/year of graphite by 2027, and in December 2025 the company reported battery-grade performance (99.95% purity, 361 mAh/g) with validation by cell manufacturers still ahead. Modeling compromises: the vocabulary has no CO2/gas feedstock token, so the line's input is recorded as graphitizable-carbon-precursor (the carbon formed in-process from CO2) and the graphite output is mapped to synthetic-anode-material; sources describe the product only as CO2-derived battery-grade graphite.
