Anovion Bainbridge Synthetic Graphite Plant

Anovion's planned synthetic graphite anode material plant at the Downrange Industrial Park in Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia. Georgia's governor and economic development agency announced the project on 15 May 2023 as a 1,500,000-square-foot facility, more than US$800 million of investment and over 400 jobs, with operations then expected to begin in late 2025. Anovion's DOE Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains grant (award DEMS0000006, US$117,000,000 obligated, US$13,782,513.18 outlayed) was terminated in DOE's October 2025 award cancellations; the facility is retained here with that termination recorded rather than deleted. As of July 2025 local reporting, Anovion was still targeting 2026 to start a first 'mini-mill' with full facility production planned for 2028, and was still working with the Export-Import Bank toward US$400 million of project financing. No annual tonnage for the Bainbridge site is recorded: the 35,000 tpa figure in the federal award description is not tied to Bainbridge by any source loaded on this pass.
